Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Essa Barshim said it was an easy decision to share the Olympic gold medal in the men’s high jump.

Both athletes jumped 2.37m but could not clear 2.39m in Tokyo on Sunday.

The Italian and Qatari then decided to share gold rather than enter a sudden death jump off.
